Concrete Walkway and Low CMU Retaining Wall (pdf)
If your backyard has a slight slope to it you can use a low retaining wall to prevent the dirt from spilling over your new concrete walkway.
This detail shows how to retain a small amount of earth in a long lasting manner. Using a water proofing layer on the dirt side of the wall prevents staining of the low site wall.
This detail applies to one 8″ high block layer—good for retaining about 6″ of earth.
By creating level walls in your garden, you give it a nice neat appearance.
